Topology 1 (WiSe 2023/24)
- Time and place: Lectures: Tue, 12-14 ct and Fri, 12-14 ct (Room A 027)
Exercises: Wed, 12-14 (Room B 132) and Thu, 14-16 (Room B 046)
Please register on moodle. The key to enroll yourself is the first name of the famous German topologist Puppe. - Exercise classes: The weekly homework assignments will be discussed in the exercise classes. Homework assignments will be posted below.
- Exam: The exam will take place on Thursday, 15 February 2024, 10 - 12 am in Room B 005.
- Retake Exam: The retake exam will take place on Wednesday, 10 April 2024, 10 - 12 am in Room B 004.
- Contents: We will begin with a brief introduction to point-set topology, and then discuss various topics in algebraic topology (fundamental group, covering spaces, singular homology theory).
- Audience: The course is intended for students of mathematics or physics in the third year or higher. Of course, everyone who is interested is welcome to attend.
- Language: The course will be taught in English.
- Prerequisites: Basic courses in calculus and (linear) algebra.
