Algebraic K-theory (SS 2025)
- Time and place: Lectures: Mo, 14-16 ct and We, 14-16 ct (Room A 027)
Exercises: Th, 12-14 (B 041)
The first lecture will be April 23, the first exercise session on May 8. - ECTS: You can get 9 ECTS via WP30, WP31, WP32 (Module Handbook 2021, Master Mathematics)
- Exam: This will be an oral exam, most likely in the first week after the winter term ends.
- Retake Exam: This will be an oral exam, most like in the first week before the summer term starts.
- Contents: The course is an introduction to (higher) algebraic K-theory. In particular, we will study the higher K-theory of rings, schemes, and categories. The intention is to start with an overview of topics in which algebraic K-theory appears, and then to define and discuss the K-theory spectrum of increasingly general objects (rings, schemes, stable nifty-categories) as well as to study some basic important theorems in this context.
- Audience: The course is intended for masters students in mathematics or physics. Of course, everyone who is interested is welcome to attend.
- Language: The course will be taught in English.
- Prerequisites: Algebraic Topology, Homotopy theory, commutative algebra, basic algebraic geometry.
- References: will be added soon.
