Mathematisches Kolloquium
On Thursday, January the 23rd. .Januar 2020, at 16:30h
Mark Pollicott
(University of Warwick)
will give a talk in lecture hall A027 on
Counting Apollonian circles and related stories
Abstract: Starting from our mutually tengent circles in the plane one can successively inscribing more circles between any three tangent circles. This gives infinitely circles forming an Apollonian circle packing. We will describe properties of the radii of these circles. This will draw upon ideas from Fractal Geometry, Number Theory and Probability Theory.
Everyone is invited! Join us for coffee and tea in the common room (B448) half an hour before the talk.
