Geometric Control, Cohesion and Pursuit

Zusammenfassung: Understanding mechanisms needed to create natural and artificial swarms is of great current interest. In collaborative work with Eric Justh and Fumin Zhang, we have investigated such mechanisms from the perspective of geometric control theory. In this talk we present recent results on cooperative feedback laws for cohesion in a collection of particles. Questions of scalability of such laws have led us to look also at non-cooperative interactions. In joint work with biologists interested in the prey capture behavior of echolocation bats, we have uncovered certain pursuit laws that may also serve as a means to cohesion. The rich collection of flight data examined in this study has also stimulated the development of some interesting approaches to inverse problems.
Alle Interessierten sind hiermit herzlich eingeladen. Eine halbe Stunde vor dem Vortrag gibt es Kaffee und Tee.
