Dilute Bose Gases in Traps: Rigorous Results
Zusammenfassung: We present an overview of rigorous results on the ground state of dilute trapped Bose gases, as obtained in the past few years in collaboration with Elliott Lieb and Jakob Yngvason. The discussion includes results on the ground state energy, Bose-Einstein condensation, superfluidity, quantized vortices in rotating gases, and one-dimensional behaviour in highly elongated traps. All these properties are intensely being studied in current experiments on cold atomic gases. We will give a brief description of the mathematics involved in understanding these phenomena, starting from the underlying many-body Schroedinger equation.
