Algebraic Geometry I
Wintersemester 2025/2026
Algebraic geometry is a branch of mathematics that combines algebra and geometry. Its main subject is the study of algebraic varieties, which can be understood as the solution sets of polynomial equations. The goal of this course is to introduce the language and fundamental concepts of algebraic geometry. Topics to be covered include affine and projective varieties and their morphisms, rational maps, smoothness, tangent spaces, and an introduction to the theory of sheaves and schemes.
