Hodge theory in Kähler geometry and complex algebraic geometry

Zusammenfassung: The topology of compact Kähler manifolds is strongly restricted by Hodge theory, as shown by the existence of Hodge structures on cohomology, a notion that we will introduce in this talk. We show however that complex projective manifolds satisfy supplementary topological restrictions which also come from the study of these Hodge structures. We also proved that the Hodge conjecture, which concerns Hodge classes on smooth complex projective varieties, does not extend to the Kähler situation. Thus there is in fact a big gap between Kähler and complex algebraic geometry.
