Seminar on manifolds - Sommersemester 2018

Kähler Groups

This semester we will study so-called Kähler groups, which are by definition the fundamental groups of compact Kähler manifolds. The investigation of these groups is an interesting topic at the crossroads of topology and complex geometry, and is one of the basic themes when studying the topology of complex algebraic varieties. The seminar can serve both as a sequel to Complex Geometry I, and as an accompanying seminar for Complex Geometry II. For those interested in complex geometry it is also be a good complement to my course on geometric group theory. There will be an organisational meeting during the first week of classes. Further references will be provided at this meeting. Students interested in giving a talk can contact me ahead of time by email.

Prospective participants should contact me by email. There will be an organizational meeting on Thursday, April 12th, at 2:15 PM (=14 Uhr c.t.), in room B 046. If you are interested in this seminar, then please come to the organizational meeting, even if the time is not suitable for you, so that we can discuss the timing, and perhaps choose a better time slot for subsequent weeks.
