Willkommen zum Oberseminar Mathematische Physik

In this talk I will first review black holes in classical general relativity. Then I discuss certain aspects of quantum field theory in curved space-time. In particular, the effect of Hawking radiation and the information paradox will be addressed. Finally, I will present a new framework based on resolving the quantum constituency of black holes that could offer a solution to this paradox. The talk will be rather conceptual than technical.

I will go over some of recent development on probabilistic approach to the study of nonlinear dispersive PDEs such as the nonlinear Schrodinger equations and describe how it allows us to go beyond deterministic thresholds.

The theory of causal fermion systems is an approach to describe fundamental physics. It gives quantum mechanics, general relativity and quantum field theory as limiting cases and is therefore a candidate for a unified physical theory. In the talk, I explain the basic constituents of the theory and how it relates to contemporary physics.
