''Scattering of an Infraparticle: The One-Particle Sector in Nelson's Massless Model''

Abstract: Nelson's massless model (not confined) describes a non-relativistic spinless particle linearly coupled with a relativistic quantized field, scalar and massless. It is well known that, without an infrared regularization, no one-particle subspace is present in the Hilbert space of the system. Therefore the heavy particle is an infraparticle according to an accepted definition in literature. For this system, in spite of the absence of a strictly free asymptotic (heavy) particle (described by one-particle states), we show a consistent scattering theory. The rigorously constructed scattering states consist of the heavy particle always surrounded by a cloud of soft asymptotic bosons.
